Been with Hostgator over 10 years and have had very few issues. When I did have the occasional problem, online chat is always available within minutes and the techs can resolve the problems for me. Today I requested an update for MySQL to an up to date version and they agreed to migrate my server to a new one with the updated MySQL. The interaction only took a few minutes.

I had a situation that I tried to resolve in a chat a couple months before that never got done. This person did all of it for me in a few minute - rather than the hours I usually have to wait to complete chat support. VERY HAPPY NOW - confirmed the new domains got the SSL & redirection on my server already!

We have done business with HostGator for more than a decade, and while things have gradually changed over time, one thing that has remained constant is their commitment to outstanding customer support. While they now offer phone support, I find that it's sometimes easier to be able to link to webpages and make sure that both parties have the time to review and look over case details and such in live chat, which I grew used to over the years. Mohammed was kind and courteous today, and what could have been a difficult ticket with another company turned out to be relatively painless. Many thanks!

I've been on HostGator shared hosting since mid 2005. There have been small downtimes here and there but overall it's been very stable.
My site is custom php and uses a ~2 GB mysql database. Performance seems overall good.
I've always had SSH access so I am satisfied with the control I have since I can use ssh/scp scripts to deploy my site and do some maintenance.
They removed the ticket system some years ago and while it is a little frustrating to use a Chat interface the few times I had to use it they resolve the issue.
Today there was a small issue with SSH jailedshell access after they did a planned server update (which was notified in advance by email). Took 20-30 minutes but it was solved.
The price did increase substantially... many years ago it was like 15 USD now its close to 30 but I guess thats the same everywhere.
