My experience was brilliant. I had a lovely, helpful and patient agent called Andrei. He talked me through everything and waited patiently as I fumbled around with passwords etc. l find tax, business and all that comes with it so confusing as I’m learning as I go. As a sole trader having to register for VAT and make MTS submissions for the first time the prospect was somewhat daunting! My 45-60 minute session with Daneel was exceptionally helpful. From a position of confusion he calmly walked me through everything I needed to know in terms of how to log transactions, link to HMRC Gateway for VAT and Self-Assessment, and many more helpful tips. I like what I have seen of Intuit QuickBooks
I needed accounting software for HMRC's new Making Tax Digital quarterly submissions for self-employed sole traders, and plumped for Intuit Quickbooks. Have just had a helpful onboarding phone call. From what I have seen so far I am reassured that this choice of commercial software is a good one.

Dear Xero Team, I would like to share some feedback regarding transaction visibility in Xero. It would be very helpful to have a feature that allows users to directly view the debit and credit (DR/CR) entries of a transaction, similar to the Recap Transaction view in MYOB, or a quick general ledger-style view linked to each transaction. Currently, to understand the full accounting impact of a transaction, users need to navigate to specific reports such as the General Ledger or Account Transactions report. This adds extra steps, particularly during reconciliations, reviews, or troubleshooting. A built‑in transaction recap that displays the DR and CR lines directly from the transaction screen would greatly improve efficiency and clarity for accountants and finance users. Good for my S Corp payroll
I elected S corp status for my agency earlier this year and quickly realized I was in over my head with the payroll requirements. You can't just pay yourself however you want anymore - you need "reasonable salary," withholdings, quarterly taxes. I'm not an accountant but Gusto walked me through everything. The setup process helped me figure out what a reasonable salary should be based on my industry and revenue, set up the withholdings, and got me registered with the state tax agency. Took maybe an hour total. The payroll runs automatically on my schedule. Taxes get calculated, withheld, and paid automatically. Easy to pay yourself both salary (with taxes) and distributions (without payroll taxes). You can do both from the same dashboard. This was confusing as hell when I was researching how S corps work, but Gusto makes it simple. If you're a solo founder or small agency owner who just elected S corp status, don't try to DIY this.

Every aspect of using Gusto from setting up in the platform, onboarding employees, and running payroll has been exceptional. I switched from Paychex which was a complete nightmare and I am so happy that I did. Gusto makes it so easy to handle everything on your own including an incredibly helpful AI chatbot. And when you can't figure it out, customer service is great and responsive.

I thought my account had been hacked when an alternative email showed up in my saved passwords and I thought I had been hacked. When I called the tech listened, understood, consulted with a colleague (second set of eyes concerning my inquiry), and assured me that the account was secure and the email was correct. He explained that sometimes a different email address and password can pop up when logging on another website. All account information was verify and nothing was changed in the account. Very patient and I trusted him
